Family Life – Never a Dull Moment

Life with baby, life with toddler, life with bright spirits who talk to God and angels, pour out love to everyone and are so on about learning. Wow! Exciting and challenging. Right now, as I write, my 3-year-old son, Alex, has pots, pans and lids lined up on the table, wants rock-n-roll on the radio and is making music while Nicky (9 months) join in hotting a pie tin and shouting. Alex states: “I like loud, fast, boy music!” Children are so aware of spirit. Recently Alex announced excitedly, “Daddy’s home!” Reggie hadn’t arrived physically. Alex validated spirit.

Children are great at creating what they want. After a fun church retreat for several for us went to the Sauk River. Alex wanted to go fishing. He has never done this. I offered him a stick as a fishing pole. He got angry and said “No Mom, I want a real fishing pole!” He did. Then he got even angrier and yelled “I want a fishing pole NOW!” Well, I couldn’t see how this could happen. I soon looked up and saw three young girls fishing and thought perhaps they could show Alex. Well, the girl whose name was also Alex, showed him how to cast and reel in the line, letting him do it. She told Alex she learned to fish when she was 3. Alex didn’t catch a fish, but as far as he was concerned, he had gone fishing with a real fishing pole. He was happy. On the way home I remembered a place Reggie and I had gone camping that has a stocked fishing pond for children. We have reservations for next week and Alex will get to catch a real fish!

My stepson Eric, although he’s not with us physically as much as we’d like, is an integral part of our family. Alex adores him and follows him like a shadow. Nick thinks he’s funny. Eric will walk over to Nick, and Nick will start laughing. When I see Alex, Nick and Eric together I know they have their own world. Using the techniques with my family makes all the difference, chaos or harmony, often a mix. I thought of a comparison. As a parent I wouldn’t even think of not having a first aid kit for keeping my children safe. Well, in my spiritual first aid kit I have grounding, centering, creating and letting go of roses, gold energy and communicating with God and Jesus. These techniques were taught at the CDM SummerFEST that Eric and then Alex attended. They came away with a toolbox of techniques. It’s like teaching them how to fish, tools they can use anywhere. I watch my baby, hands up in the air squealing with delight. I know he is communicating with God. Thank you God for my family.
